Vogar is one of the most visited destinations thanks to its quick access and mountain hut. The climb up can be a single excursion or a starting point for longer hikes in the surrounding area.

At 1054 metres, Vogar is the easternmost peak of the ridge above the northern shore of Lake Bohinj. It has become a popular excursion point thanks to its magnificent views of the Upper and Lower Bohinj Valley, the lake basin and the peaks of the Bohinj-Tolmin mountains.

The favourable thermal conditions also make Vogar a popular base for paragliding.

Access to Kosijev dom at Vogar

The climb up to Vogar from Stara Fužina takes about an hour, during which you will cover an altitude difference of almost 500 metres. Good footwear is recommended due to the steepness of the trail.

At the top of the Vogar is the Kosijev dom, where you will find refreshments, a stamp and a registration book.

You can enjoy views of Bohinj from two points on Vogar. The first one is located in a clearing, where there is also a take-off point for paragliders. It can be reached in less than an hour’s walk along a steep footpath from Stara Fužina. You are rewarded with a beautiful view of the Upper and Lower Bohinj Valley, Rudnica and Senožeta. The second lookout point is reached after about 20 minutes of further walking, a well-worn path leads you past Kosijev dom westwards to the precipitous edge, from where you will enjoy a view of the Bohinj-Tolmin mountains, especially the part from Vogel to Komna, as well as Lake Bohinj and Ukanc.
